New Florida Contractor License

Are you looking for a new Florida contractor license?

If so, we can help! We primarily help two types of customers:

  • New contractors looking to obtain their Florida contractor license; and
  • Out of state contractors who are looking to break into the lucrative Florida construction market

Additionally, some of our clients contact us after their license has been delayed or declined out right. In most cases, this could have been avoided if they had contacted us prior to submitting their application. We’re familiar with the state and licensing process which helps to avoid lost time and money!

How does it work?

Our service is simple, just the way it should be. We help you get your Florida construction license from start to finish so you can stop losing time and start making money. After all, that’s why you’re getting licensed in the first place isn’t it?

The first step is scheduling and preparing for your exam. We can offer several recommendations as to where to find your exam prep books. Additionally, we’ll let you know how and when to register. Already passed the exam? Congratulations! You’re one step closer to getting your license!

The second step is assisting you with the completion of your contractor license application. We’ll work with you to gather the necessary information needed. This includes but is not limited to obtaining references, employment history, credit reports, bonding, and insurance.

The third step is scheduling your fingerprinting which is required by the state. Only certain providers meet the necessary qualifications mandated by the Department of Professional Regulation. Additionally, proper timing of your fingerprints is necessary to ensure your application won’t be denied because of this requirement.

The fourth and final step is submitting your application to the state for approval. Your application will most likely be reviewed by the Construction Industry Licensing Board. It’s important that your application is complete or you could lose up to 60 additional days of work if your application is denied.

Once approved, your Florida contractor license is typically issued within two weeks.

How much does it cost?

Our one-time fee is $399 per application. Please note that our fee is in addition to the fees charged by the state and other required vendors. While our fee is lower than our competitors let’s break it down in terms of your cost. Let’s assume your average profit margin is a modest 20% (suggested gross margins are between 21%-42% by the way). Using the conservative 20% profit in our example, you’d only need a $1000 job to cover our cost. More importantly, this doesn’t consider the cost of your time.

We’ll be the first to tell you that, yes, you can go it alone when it comes to your construction license application. Additionally, you could very well be successful in getting your license the first time. But now think about how much of your time will be spent on it. You’ll need to research the various credit reporting agencies and fingerprint providers required by the state. You’ll need to figure out and quote the required insurance and surety bonds. You’ll need to figure out the correct exam dates, when the applications are due, and where to send them. Now compare the time spent on your application to the value you place on your time. That could be $20, $50, or more per hour! You’ll quickly see that at best, you’ll break even and, at worst, you’ll end up losing money overall by doing everything by yourself.
